The colors have changed, the leaves have fallen, and I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family and friends. The Holiday Season is now in full swing.
We have had a busy few months since we reconvened council in September, and this will continue all the way through the new year. As you can see, there is generally a lot happening around the city, so there has been no shortness of meetings, and speaking with neighbors and constituents.
Let’s get down to it…

Ward 3 Development Projects

There are a few projects happening in and around the area, so I wanted to provide you with a brief update on their progress.
  • Hotel @ Fayette/Arlington & W. Squantum St.

    • After a long public process, the developers of the project, Cathartes, have made a change in the composition of the project.

    • Originally 140 hotel rooms over six floors, will now be 180 hotel rooms over five floors.

    • Because of this change, the developers will need to go back before the Planning Board for approval.

  • 1 Newport Ave.

    • Held the first neighborhood meeting for this project on Tuesday, November 22, at Montclair School.

    • The developers of this project, Arista Development, presented a proposed project of 100 units over six floors.

    • This project will need to go through the typical vetting of the Planning and Zoning Boards, and Conservation Commission.

  • North Quincy MBTA Station Parking Lot

    • A neighborhood meeting was held on Tuesday, November 15, at the Kennedy Center.

    • Attendees were provided an opportunity to provide input into different aspects of the project.

    • Visit www.northquincystation.com for more information.

Neighborhood Meetings

We held two substantial meetings in November regarding two of the most important issues to our neighborhoods.
  • Traffic & Parking

    • On Tuesday, November 1, the director of Traffic, Parking, Alarms & Lighting (aka “TPAL”), the city’s Traffic Engineer, and a representative from the Quincy Police Department spoke with a large group at Wollaston School.

    • This meeting was an opportunity for constituents of Ward 3 to share their concerns about traffic and parking issues.

    • Many suggestions and recommendations came from this meeting, which are currently under review.

  • Public Safety

    • On Monday, November 7, Lt. Dan Minton joined us at Wollaston School to discuss QPD public safety initiatives, and to learn about perceived and actual public safety concerns of constituents.

Street & Pot Hole Repair

As we anticipate the winter months, the DPW has been diligent in making road improvements. I received a report from Commissioner Raymondi highlighting that work in Ward 3.
